Ok, so I haven't posted anything the past week or two! What's going on??
Well, I've been getting quite involved with OPENaid International. OPENaid approached me through my work at SitePoint Solutions, seeking a major overhaul of their web site. The old one was clearly not suitable for their expanding needs, and so we jumped on the opportunity to launch a totally redesigned site which is based on the Gazette Content Management System. The new site should be live by the 1st April 2006.
OPENaid International was founded by Australian Justin Whitecross to provide funding and support to locally managed aid projects in Thailand and Myanmar. OPENaid's focus is on "opening the future" particularly for impoverished children in these regions through education, health, economic development, and combating exploitation.
With my personal interest in the welfare of Filipino's, OPENaid have also invited me to become involved with them and help to identify and assess opportunities in the Philippines. Although nothing firm has been determined, there is an expectation that this will lead to new projects being established and/or facilitated in the Philippines over the next year or so.
In addition to helping OPENaid with the design and launch of their new web site, I'm also getting involved in their marketing strategy and look forward to participating in the growth of their support network. With just a few thousand more dollars per year reaching their overseas programs, OPENaid will be eligible to apply for funding from AusAID. AusAID fund eligible organisations 3:1, adding $3 for every $1 that is invested in qualifying international programs.
What an exciting time, and a great opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of women and children who have experienced incredible hardship in Thailand, Myanmar and Philippines!
I'll update you again soon...!
